1. Short biography

Marcel Barnard is professor of Practical Theology at the Protestant Theological University (Amsterdam, the Netherlands), professor of Liturgical Studies at VU University Amsterdam, and Professor Extraordinary of Practical Theology at the University of Stellenbosch (South Africa). He is research leader of Practical Theology at the Protestant Theological University.

He was born in 1957 in Leiden, the Netherlands, and studied theology at the University of Amsterdam (phd in 1987). He served the (predecessors of) the Protestant Church in the Netherlands as minister (from 1986). Marcel Barnard is married to Anne Margriet Pot (Health and Youth Care Inspectorate, Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sport, the Netherlands; Professor of Geropsychology VU University Amsterdam),

In his spare time Marcel Barnard loves painting (oil, gouache), as well as Mediterranean cooking and wining (Professional Diploma Wine Knowledge) and running (10k).
